Motorbike Rental Kamala Beach Phuket — Hotel Delivery, Rates & Local Guide 2026

Kamala Beach sits in a sheltered bay on Phuket's west coast, roughly halfway between Patong and Surin. It has the feel of a village that tourism found but did not overwhelm — quieter than Patong, more lived-in than Surin, and increasingly popular with longer-stay visitors and digital nomads. If you are based here, a motorbike opens up the entire northwest coast in under 30 minutes.

Kamala Beach is one of Phuket's most relaxed bays — a motorbike lets you reach Surin, Patong, and Bangtao within minutes.

Why Kamala Is an Ideal Base for Motorbike Exploration

Kamala's geography makes it one of the best-positioned beaches on the island for riding. You are within easy reach of:

  • Surin Beach — 10 minutes north via a scenic clifftop road, one of Phuket's best short rides
  • Bangtao Beach and Laguna — 20 minutes north, long flat beach, good restaurants, easy riding
  • Patong Beach — 15 minutes south over Kamala Hill, worth the climb for the view
  • Phuket Town — 30 minutes via the main road, Old Town coffee shops and the Sunday Walking Street
  • Chalong and Big Buddha — 35–40 minutes south, an easy half-day trip

Taxi prices from Kamala are among the highest on the island due to its slightly isolated position — a taxi to Patong costs 300–500 THB each way. A motorbike rental at 250–350 THB per day makes the comparison stark for anyone staying more than a day or two.

What to Know Before Riding Around Kamala

The Kamala Hill road to Patong

The road south from Kamala to Patong climbs Kamala Hill — steep in places with tight bends. The views at the top are excellent but take it slowly, especially heading down toward Patong where the gradient is sharper. In the wet season (May–October), this road can have standing water on bends. Ride at 30–40 km/h on the descent.

The Kamala to Surin coastal route

North from Kamala, the road hugs the cliff above the sea before dropping to Surin Beach. This is one of the most scenic 10-minute rides on the island and is suitable for all experience levels in dry conditions. The road is narrow in places — give way to oncoming traffic on blind corners.

Parking in Kamala

Most villas and guesthouses have private parking. On the beachfront, there is informal motorbike parking near the beach access points. The main Kamala village area has no shortage of kerb parking. Avoid parking on the beach itself — fines apply in the high season.

Petrol near Kamala

The nearest full-size petrol station is on Kamala Beach Road (Route 4030), north of the village. There are also small roadside hand-pump points near the main junction. Fill up before the coastal road to Surin — there are no petrol options on that stretch.

Frequently Asked Questions — Kamala Beach Rentals

Do you deliver to Kamala hillside villas?

Yes. We cover all Kamala properties including hillside villas accessed via the narrow lanes above the main beach road. Provide your exact address or Google Maps pin when booking and we will confirm delivery is available to your specific location.

Is Kamala suitable for beginner riders?

The flat Kamala beachfront road and the Kamala village area are fine for beginners. Avoid the Kamala Hill road to Patong and the cliff road to Surin until you have ridden for a day or two and are comfortable with the bike. Both routes have blind corners that require confident, controlled riding.

Can I ride to Fantasea or Phuket FantaSea from Kamala?

Phuket FantaSea is located in Kamala itself — you can ride there in under 5 minutes from most Kamala accommodation. Parking for motorbikes is available at the venue. It is one of the easiest evening trips from a Kamala base.

What is the best route from Kamala to Phuket Town?

Take Route 4030 south through Patong, then follow Route 4029 or the main highway south to Phuket Town. The total ride is 30–35 minutes in light traffic. Alternatively, the inland route via Route 4024 avoids Patong entirely and takes a similar time — quieter road, fewer traffic lights.
